Hello again my dear randoms / friends / and or family who may be reading this,
We are now on day 20, or techinically have just finished day 20, and i am currently in a camp in Damaraland, which apparently has some really cool cave drawings..but i didnt go on the walk because i was too hot so i didnt see them and i think people might actually be lying about them, i dont think they exist really...
anyway... the last few days have been unbelievable! we arrived in a place called Swakopmund on friday, which is basically like the african version of bournemouth, its creepy really, everything is just the same except well, its in africa! Was such a nice place though, and the best part about it - no camping! proper beds! somewhat slightly questionable beds but still beds yay! So we had a couple of days there where basically we could do what we wanted, and there was an activity centre there where we could book stuff etc etc, so that night i went on a sunset horse ride through the desert - and considering i dont really like horses because they tend to throw me off, i actually really enjoyed myself. my horse was a bit special though, his name was carlos (fantastic name for a horse!) and he would stop at every oppertunity to either eat or s*** (or sometimes both) regardless of the situation - he actually attempted to eat a cactuss! but i think that was just to spite me because i tried to steer him away! That night we went for dinner at a lovely italian place and then moved on to taste the real african delights..a nightclub! needless to say there are pictures...there was drink involved...usual embarrassment.
The next day however i got to go quad biking in the morning - quad biking in the dessert over sand dunes, how fantastic is that! and OMG it was sooo much fun! except that john, one of the elder members of the group, crashed, quite spectaculaly i might add, but he was fine in the end! we actually ended up between the 5 of us breaking 6 bikes, which i think is pretty impressive, but i reckon they were only breaking because Kavan, Steve and Andrew went before us and crapped them up by crashing a lot...thats my theory anyway.
The afternoon was a really chilled relaxing one, i started by getting dressed into this funny jump suit thing, then i got into a small plane and sat on this guys lap for half an hour; then, after all that, i decided to take a stroll and jumped out of the plane at 10,000 feet!! i skydived baby! Me, little old me, jumped from 10,000 feet in the air and corkscrewed my way down screaming little more than 'Holy s***!' and making rather obscene noises at my tandem guy who i was attached too - i think he rather enjoyed them though so no harm there! Such a high though - def reccommend it to anyone and everyone! Im going to do it again in Oz i think, i might get a video this time too, just to proove it lol!
Oops, running out of interent time, will finish this post tomorrow...
ok, im back, so where was I? ah yes, skydiving - A.MA.ZING! and that night we had dinner at a lovely little place calle KuKi's i think it was, and here is where the list of animals i have eaten starts to expland slightly..right now it includes: oryx, springbok, zebra and swordfish, but i am keen to expand at the earliest convienience lol! So yeah, we had dinner by the sea and it was lovley, then, for once, it was fairly early to bed i think..shocking i know...
So that was Swakopmund, brilliant place and brilliant time had by all, especially me and lets face it, considering this is MY blog, thats all that matters :P That i think gets us all up to date, as I said i am currently in a camp in Damaraland, and rather than get all hot trecking around doing cultural crap, i have spent the afternoon in the bar, a lovely bar i might add, drinking lovely Savanna cider (my new favourite drink) and reading 1984 (which in my opinion is enough cultural crap for one day anyway!) Locals are doing a little sing song for us tonight so will update in a few days what that was like, looking forward to it though :)
