Our last day in Cairo was very uneventful, Lisa was very tired and still sick from being quite dehydrated so we both slept in, first time we've been able to do that! I woke up about 1-ish but she wasn't up, without her I wasn't really wanting to spend more money or time in Coptic Cairo so I stayed in and Mohammad and I had a nice LONG chat! 6 hours!!!
We literally discussed anything and everything! Talked about families, politics, pricing differences between US and Cairo, as well as the cities themselves. It was a wonderful chat and I feel that from it I really got my best taste of Cairo. He and I decided to go get dinner after Iftar (the evening meal when Muslims break their fast for Ramadan), we went and had a pizza like dish called Fiteer. It had two crusts and in between was red and green peppers, cheese and Mediterranean olives, it was very good, I had like 4 pieces of it! And also a Hibiscus soda which tasted good also, and he paid for it since it was my last day which I thanked him for.
We were waiting at the metro station for his next surfer (whom he had forgotten about, LOL) his name was Patrick and he was from Chicago. A nice guy who looked like Zach Galifianakis from "The Hangover". He's been to Egypt twice before but both times was in Alexandria.
So we get back to the house and I get all packed up, we were running late at that point and had to drive like maniacs to get to the metro station and almost got in an accident! We got there and said our goodbye's then Lisa and I RAN to the bus, it was still about a 30 minute ride. When we finally got from the el Maadi station to the Mubarack station we had all of 10 minutes to get to our train station and had no idea where it even was!
We were running like madmen, shoving and jumping fences back and forth across the squares because no one was giving us the right directions! We finally found it and then had to run back and forth to find our cabin cause we couldn't figure out which one was ours. Finally we did though and even though we got there 10 minutes late the train was delayed 45 minutes. Thank God but how annoying after the fact! And, now as I sit on the train its time to sleep!
