Club Med, Lindeman Island .. what can I say. Having spent a little over 2 weeks there I returned to the Mainland on Saturday. Being a Food and Beverage attendant is nothing like waitressing, my job was to clear tables at least 2 services a day, reset and then sweep and mop the restaurant. For most of my stay there were approximately 300 guests there, dropping down to less than 100 as I left. The resort, well the island's pretty enough with some nice little beaches and good views but the complex as with most of these places is in need of a refurb. With the staff there seemed to be a divide between GO's (Gracious organisers) and GE's (gracious employees). The GO's are young, good looking kids from all over the world who socialise with guests in the classic seasonaire maner. The GE's are predominantly Australian with a few Asians and backpackers chucked into the mix. People say Queenslanders are unique this I learnt is very true! But I kept my head down, earned the money, got some sleep and explored in the breaks between rain that we seemed to have the entire fortnight. Just before my birthday I had a couple of days off which I spent in Airlie running errands, catching up with Jess and getting drunk! The day itself went by as a bit of a nonevent but thanks to everyone for their Facebook messages, unfortunately the texts never came through.
Back in Airlie I spent the day at Peterpans spending the little I'd earnt planning the next part of my trip. On Sunday I travelled from there to Townsville then straight over to Magnetic island where I stayed at Bungalow bay YHA/Koala sanctuary just up the road from Horseshoe bay. I spent my first full day lying on the beach, regaining my tan and exploring the other bays by bus. The second day I did the Forts walk then onto Arcadia again to lie on the beach. The island's gorgeous and I can't wait to get the photos up! Unfortunately I didn't see koalas but Maggie was stunning and Townsville's very cute.
This afternoon I travel to Mission beach for another couple of days on the beach and walking the rainforest. On Friday I'll make my way to Cairns, there I've booked a day trip to the Atherton tablelands; similar to Cape trib but better so I've been told. And who wouldn't want to visit the waterfall where the Herbal Essences ad is shot and where Peter Andre once filmed his Mysterious girl video. Next Wednesday I fly to Alice Springs for a 3 day Uluru/Red centre tour and then onto Melbourne, possibly via Adelaide.
I've decided after a year out of Uni and almost 8 months travelling around the world (come June) that it is time to return home! So this morning I booked a flight, all being well I fly to Bali on the 25th May for just over 2 weeks and then will be back in the UK on the 11th June!! Look forward to seeing you all then xxxx
