Following my last post the rain continued so I headed cross the street for a full body Balinese massage, another experience to cross off the list .. more enjoyable than the Thai massage months ago, very tickklish! The next day was my cycling tour to Jatiluwah rice paddies .. I got up early and nipped to the shop to grab some breakfast .. however on the way I encountered a not so nice dog which bit me!! It was only a scratch but after consultation it was decided that as soon as my tour was over I should see a doctor. I was picked up by the company along with an older Dutch couple and we headed into the mountains, firstly stopping at a coffee plantation to sample Indonesian coffee. Once up in Jatiluwah we met our guide Rico, however it was still raining heavily and there was no sign it would clear. We decided it would be best to go along the same route by car and stop for lunch. This saved us getting soaked .. the photos wouldn't be great either way. Lunch was lovely and finally it the clouds lifted. Had it been a nice day the area and cycling would have been beautiful. Once back in Seminyak I headed out to find a doctor .. I was told I would have to go to emergency in Sanglah hospital Denpasar. There they didn't even examine me just stuck me with 2 needles of rabies vaccine!! As for the insurance .. if you were seriously ill I should hope there wouldn't be such an urgency to follow prcedure!!
That night I had the tastiest tuna at an Indo-Greek resto, best thing I've tasted in ages!! The next day I was up early again and off to Kuta for my bus to Lovina. Traffic was bad and we didn't arrive until mid afternoon, I was only staying the night but found a lovely little bungalow. I had a quick dip in the hotel pool and went for a wander. A lovely place to chill out and sunbath but otherwise not much going on. I found a little restaurant to eat in that night .. it was so quiet the guy placed my right by the door giving appreciative looks everytime someone walked passed. Just before leaving we attracted 2 couples to which he was very pleased! The next day I travelled again with Perama back inland to Ubud to meet Becca from the Uluru tour. We are staying at a lovely little place not in the Lonely Planet called Tunjung Bungalows. The family are ever so sweet and happy to help! We wandered the town and caught up yesterday and today I'm being productive. I plan to go see some traditional dancing whilst here, visit to volcano and then on Thursday will move on to Sanur ready for further rabies injections in Denpasar on Friday. Home in 10 or so days!
