WANNA LIVE IN WANAKA
DAY 37: Wanaka
A much more relaxed day today, starting with a lazy stroll along the front and browsing the shops. The weather was beautiful and it seriously got us thinking about moving here, for 3-6 months anyway. It's such a lovely place. A beautiful lake, great people and superb weather - you get a nice hot summer and snow in the winter for skiing. And the scenery is unbeatable. Such a relaxed place too.
We grabbed some fresh salad and pizza bread from the supermarket and settled on the lake shore, knocking around on the beach for an hour or so. Jen was bedazzled by the small sparkly rocks on the lake's shore. The weather changed quite quickly, as it does in New Zealand, to cloudy with a few spots of rain. But when the sun came out again, it was really hot.
Needing to catch up with journals (as we'd become really slack and easily distracted), we moved up to a bar on the front to concentrate, but got distracted with some business ideas for Jen so we headed back up to the hostel to do some research.
After chatting loads with our new friends and cooking some dinner in our hostel apartment, we started my nemesis of board games - scrabble. I was actually leading for ages but got pipped to the post by Jen (and nearly everyone else). I also got stung with my remaining letter - a bloody 'Q' (10 points deducted). Finished second to last in the end and Jen romped it.
