ROOM WITH AN INCREDIBLE VIEW
DAY 38: Wanaka to Queenstown
After checking out of the hostel and one last look around Wanaka we parked up outside the hostel and sat in the sun whilst we waited for our next Stray bus.
When the bus arrived, it was pretty busy but we found a few seats near each other with Josh, Lisa and Laura. Our first stop as we drove through the Otago wine region was at Jones' Fruit Stall (well, more of a shop with a whole fruit farm attached to it) where we had some real fruit ice cream...awesome!!! There was some lovely food on offer (free tasters too - good times), the best of which were some dried apple covered in cinnamon and some chocolate covered kiwi pellets.
Shortly after we passed through the Kawarau Gorge we arrived at the AJ Hackett bungee jump site at Kawarau Bridge - THE original bungee site. Wish we'd been able to afford it in hindsight (seriously!), as we both think we might have been able to go through with it. Jen was definitely more eager than me though. Maybe next time.
We then made our way in to Queenstown where we waited for Pauline to finish work and take us to our private villa for the next three nights.
WOW!!! What an amazing view from her house, right across Lake Wakatipu to the dramatic, imposing mountains. Looking out of the window is like a looking at a moving picture (the pic is the view from our bed).
We then headed out to dinner at Speights' with Pauline, her daughter Hannah and her fiancé Fraser, who were both very nice. The food was delicious and a proper meal was more than welcome. After a quick drink at another bar and a nightcap at Pauline's we turned in.
