DAY 23: Rarotonga
After a marathon sleep of 13 hours we decided that the day should consist of pretty much doing nothing but relaxing. And as today is a bank holiday, there won't be anything open anyway, so we took our time doing nothing and had a light breakfast on the veranda watching the waves roll in under a very overcast sky.
The whole day pretty much consisted of reading and writing thoughts down, the only differing thing being whether it was in a hammock or on the veranda. It's amazing how quick time goes when you stop your body clock.
At about 6.30pm we decided to head down to the pool area as there was supposed to be a BBQ tonight, but it's been postponed due to the bank holiday. We'd have known that if we'd walked the 20 metres away from our beach residence at some point in the day. So with dinner plans not as expected it was off to the shop for some emergency supplies.
In the shop we could hear the Pop Idol theme tune on the TV, along with some fairly poor, island-esque TV footage. Of course, it was Raro Idol - Rarotonga's take on Pop Idol. The woman who worked in the shop knew most of the contestants.
With no working TV back at the beach hut, we couldn't continue watching the contest so after dinner it was back to the book.
