We arrived in Seoul, not really knowing what to expect, having heard mixed reactions from loads of people. We got off the bus to boiling, frantic, chaotic city - you can imagine Mark's first impression! We cracked the extensive subway and found our hostel. We were a bit wary of where we were staying as had come from Geongju where we had stayed in the most revolting hostel (South Korea is not renound for it's cleanliness!). Our hostel turned out to be pretty good and we ended up meeting a couple of lads from Yorkshire who we tagged along with for the following few days - we sealed the North - South divide for you Greenio!.
Seoul is full of contrasts it's a crazy, 24 hour ,do everything at 100 miles an hour city which turned out to be awesome for the few days that we were there. Our highlights were finding Mc Delivery mopeds - yes that's right McDonalds deliver! and staying up until 6 in the morning to watch Man United play Barcelona with the Koreans. They love footie due to one Korean player who plays for Man United who is a super super star here!
We spent our final days in Seoul mooching around the city seeing it's many temples and an incredible folk village where they had created a time capsule which is to be opened in 400 years.
A couple of bizarre things had happend whilst we were in South Korea such as their previous Prime Minister commiting suicide resulting in Seoul being in mass mourning with a police presence that we have never seen anything like. Also, as North Korea decided to test another automic bomb we thought hmmmm China is looking quite appealing!!
We have had the most incredible time in South Korea, loved every minute (except the food as everything is picked - we still don't know why!) and met the most remarkable people. It is definitely a country that neither of us will ever forget!
