Welcome to our next blog entry!
On our a last day in Surfers we had a really chilled morning on the beach, complete with picnic then we jumped on the bus and headed to Brisvegas baby! I think this is where we last left off so if you are all sitting comfortably I'll begin.....
Jen's cousin, Jacqueline, picked us up from the middle of Brisbane on a friday night and we drove about 45mins out of Brissy to their home town of Scarborough....we've come all this way to go to Scarborough!!;) We spent a lovely week out with them, going to the beach at the end of their road and being "ladies what lunch" in local coffee shops. However, one day we ventured away from Scarborough and met some friends in Brisbane- Mark (who we met in Surfers), his friend Chris, and Nina and James (Mark and Chris met them in their hostel). We all jumped on the train back down to the Gold Coast and went to a Theme Park called Dream World. This was a brilliant day, really fun - went on loads of fast spinny around rides, saw baby koalas and tigers, and stroked more kangaroos! Also had an "interesting" encounter with a giant crocodile!
When we left Jacqueline's we stayed in Brisbane for a night as our bus to Noosa left at stupid o'clock...6.30AM!! We had a VERY productive day in Brisbane, as it was spent in the beautiful establishment that is DownUnder Bar :) It was raining in Brissy that day so we were just following what the locals do...apparently ozzie's can't work when it's raining...well, it was a good enough reason for us to spend the afternoon in a pub! James joined us in the afternoon and the pitchers kept appearing.....
Bus to Noosa was not too eventful, however we WERE NOT impressed when he shoved us out at 8.30 to walk up a little mountain - Wild Horse Mountain....nice views of the Glass House Mountains though!
We arived in Noosa at 10.30 where we met up with our friends from Surfers - Mark, Chris, Emma and Vicky. We spent an hour and a half with them in a coffee shop then we all headed our separate ways - us to our hostel and the guys jumped on the bus we'd turned up in and went up to Rainbow Beach.
We spent 5 nights in a hostel - KB's - but we spent most of our time beach hopping. The area around Noosa is beautiful, we particularly liked Little Cove, which is part of Noosa National Park. The day after we arrived Annie, Rachel and Siobhan (Jen's family friends) took us for a walk up Tinbeerway Mountain. The views were increbible - you could see all the way back to Noosa, the coast and all the surrounding Mountains and National Parkland. We were then taken down to the river and had a brilliant ozzie bbq - our first! Alex joined us later.
We went on a day trip to Fraser Island, as you can probably see from the photos, it was like being in paradise. Lake Mackenzie was particularly stunning. To get there we had to drive in a huge 4x4 truck thing all along the beach and sand tracks, very bumpy but a lot of fun! We got to Fraser via Rainbow Beach and saw really pretty coloured sands. Very excited when we saw a Dingo on Fraser!.
The rest of our stay in Noosa Annie very kindly let us stay with her, we were even lent a car! We checked out lots of the surrouding area, but the majority of the time was spent on the beach working on our tans! One of the highlights was walking through Noosa National Park to a Beautiful Bay called TeaTree. Also we drove to Kondalilla National Park and walked through the rainforest to some waterfalls.
It's tuesday today and we leave tomorrow. We sorted our dive medicals today - and the doctor certified us "fit" :) Magnetic here we come, booked a four day dive course...and we are both very excited. Hope the sharks don't know we're coming though!!
