I found neither tesco lotus ( too tired to go, and this visit is clearly in the insterests of research and perhaps to buy some provisions for our 3 day boat trip coming up, not because this blog endorses tesco. )or a massage so here I am telling you about some stuff we did.
So we met Kath and Richard for tea which was cool esp when Kath made friends with a mouse in the bar we went to and Richard started feeding it monkey nuts.
It's wildlife all the way because today we went on a wicked trek and rode on elephants - yes indeedy! Our elephant was the mother of a little baby who stomped all around with us. the mother was a tough nut to crack she went one maybe 2 steps for every banana we fed her, and her baby was still too young to really be able to get all the banana in its mouth. They were everything you expect elephants to be, large, leathery and bloomin loud when faced with a small dog they don't like the look of.
We also visited some hill tribes in the area although this was quite commercial, most of the hill tribes we saw now make most of their money from tourism... but that is better than making it from opium which is what they were doing before.
We also bamboo rafted which was kind of nice, not very relaxing for Evan as he was stood at the back of the raft practicing his balancing(if you've ever seen anyone tap dancing on a Loboball(i think that's what they were called frisbee's wwith half a fooball either side) you'll have some idea what i looked like - Evan). Also disaster - hat is now lost! (we don't mention the hat anymore :( )
Tomorrow we learn to cook - exciting stuff
P.S - Cath Guevara- great tip about girls using squat toilets facing away from the door. However, before anyone else takes you up on this tip let me add a qualification: ensure there are no hard objects directly above you ( I'm talking about you Bangkok railway station) on which to clunk your head. I now have a dented head... but dry shoes so its swings and roundabouts.
