Well now we're in Canada, having a wonderful time with my relatives, Iris and John, but before we get into that we should really let you know what we got up to when we came back to the UK to distract you all for 2 weeks! I know that you're all dying to know how the wedding went for a start.... well straight off the plane, Rebecca and i went for our dress fittings which were great, but also meant we didn't eat for the following week in paranoia about zips not doing up. It was wonderful to see Becs, as it has been wonderful to see you all... anyway, hen night beckoned for me, and nervewracking as had written the murder mystery for everyone to take part in. Luckily this went off very well, Naomi the chief bridesmaid had fuond an amazing venue in ladbroke grove full of antiques and it made a great setting for Emily's mate Ali to murder Rex Rutherford the star of stage and screen, and I was pleased as everyone thought it was rebecca what dunnit! We also went to Volupte this cool burlesque club in Chancery lane which I recommend to you all. I shall organise a trip when we get back.
I spent some lovely quality time with Ella and also Cath, and built a very suitable lego petrol station with George adn read him some bedtime stories. It was wicked to see all our crystal palace friends and work friends and only served to make us think how much we miss you all and how wonderful it was to see you!
In the meantime I had caught up with the old gang from work who were still living much the same friday nights as ever, then i travelled up to Reading to see Josh for the weekend and watch some of the rugby world cup (which we are now deprived of as it doesn't rate a mention in canada despite them being in it. the next few days followed a similar pattern of meeting up with friends, Fleur, Chris, Matt Winn and having a couple of drinks on a night out. Although the night out with Winner ended up with a table to a models party at the end of london fashion week, the kind of offer you can't turn down no matter how badly dressed you are!
So the wedding dawned on Friday and the weather whooray was really nice. The bridesmaids were a sea of white with black details 9 very classy) and Emily looked stunning in a very Grace Kelly white dress which I'm proud to say I helped her choose, not that she needs any advice when it comes to looking classy! The venue was Dartmouth house which has an amazing staircase, which Emily threw the bouqet down at one point. It hit the main flower display rather alarmingly before landing on the floor where all the girls looked at it in horror, before becs triumphantly picked it up, phew for the rest of us! The service had ogne without a hitch and wonderfully bakced by will and helen muscially. Can't say that the registratr was so professional as when it came to Ian saying his vows, he asked Ian t otake "lisa" rather than Emily. cue great hilarity and hats off to Emily for not throwing a fit!
Wonderful food, much dancing and wine.... spent lots of time chatting to Emma and Jay who we hope we'll see again after they go on their own travelling trip. The night ended with a few drunken people having to be escorted home, clue : not me for a change!
Then it was back to Sheffield for fun and frolics. I also spent a nice night in Leamington with Pip - back to our usual antics of drinking lot sof vodka then spending the night staving off men :-) not really of course no ones pays us the slightest bit of attention ;-) We caught up on 9 months of gossip and bought a couple of good bargains - thank you Ella for the topshops voucher - now everyone did you know they do fairtrade cotton in there now ?
