So JEnnifer left you as we arrived at Henry and Kate's. They were kind enough to pick us up from the bus station and give us a quick driving tour of the city after dark (ahem) before heading back to their palatial top floor flat in the Harvard area of town. Fortunately being immensely intelligent we were immediately accepted in the area and waltzed back out for some Thai food at a local restaurant, which in keeping with everywhere else did huge portions where one meal more than did two people, which is handy as KAte is eating for 3 currently with twins due in December. after returning to the Flat to play with Henry's Wii (new comp0uter game toy (well much more than that i'm sure but basically used for playing golf and tennis games on TV) ) I immediately shot an eagle 3 on a par 5 and retired to bed with the roar of the galleries still in my ears. 9 hours of sleep later and i was still thinking of that chip in from 24 yards when we were off out to a cafe in HArvard to MEet Anna and Dan. Anna is a friend of ours JEnnifer from Uni and Me from London where she used to live in Crystal palace, now residing for a while at least in Boston her and new hubbie Dan turned out to be living basically round the corner from Henry and KAte so now have new handy buddies to talk about the misery of london commutes with.
we had a nice breakfast coffee and adjourned to a book shop to buy our mexico guide book (having realised America was whizzing past in a blur and we knew nothing of how we were going to travel round. i already have the answer ready for if anyone asks why i'm taking jennifer to mexico.......
Tequila! of course!
anyway Kate went home for a feet up, and anna and Dan popped off too, so having arranged to meet up later, we left them and henry took us on a historical walking tour of boston. Having since travelled some of america i think we were slightly spoiled that day. Boston is lovely, easy to walk round, it happened to be columbus weekend so our every turn was greated with a musical float parade, i kept expecting to see matthew broderick singing twist and shout from a top a float, but had to make do with stocky local college kid singing a medly of 60's tunes.
we walked through loads of lovely housing, up to beacon hill scene of a big battle in the independence war and houses where the declaration of indepenedence was read out, paul revere's old house, and msot importantly got to pop into the pub where CHEERS was filmed. Our amazing streak of good luck held, as on top of this the weather was glorious and we returned to Cambridge for a lovely meal of tapas at a local restaurant called Dali's with the whole gang plus Dan's mate The Shank. after gorging ourselves we made our way back to Dan and Anna's amazing apartment that is 3 floors high but as no floor fills a whole floor you can see from kitchen to ceiling of the attic. it's a lovely living space.
the musical members of the group then played a few tunes on keyboard and cello till gone midnight and we departed for some sleep before monday was too far upon us.
