We left Kanchanaburi ay 1:30 in the afternoon and arrived in Koh Samui at 12pm the following afternoon almost twenty-four hours later! It was a long old journey but the bus was pretty comfortable so we managed to sleep through most of it thank God!
When we arrived in Samui, we couldn't have picked a better place to stay, it was right in between the 2 main resort towns of Chaweng and Lamai and was in a little bay that was shared by 4 other little resorts that were around the same size as ours (about 15 rooms). Plus being off season there was hardly anyone there so we had much of it to ourselves! We also managed to bag ourselves a panoramic view room so we didn't even have to move from the bed to see the view!
Once we'd unpacked we headed for the beach to laze around and have a wee dip in the sea which was so warm it was like getting into a bath! And that is pretty much all we did! In the evening after watching the moon rise (which was amazing!) we went into Lamai for a little look around and for those from Portadown we met a girl from Lisburn who works in Winemark so she knows Elaine Thompson and Jane Peters. Bit weird!!
The next day was much of the same! We woke up, went in Chaweng for a nosey then back to our beach to bake in the sun! After being attacked by the cutest puppy ever we got ready to go out in the evening. This time we even lazier and only made it around the corner to a place called The Cliff that overlooked our bay. There was a regatta in Samui so we watched the moon rise over the boats which was really nice but neither or us could be bothered to get up from our table to take a photo so close your eyes and imagine!!!
The next morning we got up at 5.30am to watch the sunrise. It was absolutely beautiful and we got some cracking pictures, they kinda look like postcards! Then it was time to pack before our boat to Koh Tao. However all didn't quite go to plan as Jen was attacked by the biggest spider either of us have ever seen (it touched her hand and everything!), which proceeded to crawl inside her bag. When the screaming stopped, operation 'remove spider' began and for the rest of the day she proceeded to have a nervous breakdown every time something touched her!
We arrived at Koh Tao this afternoon and once again have a cracking spot which really feels like you're in the middle of nowhere and has its own private beach so we spent most of the day on. However swimming was a little more difficult as we kept being attacked by fish which took it upon themselves to try and nibble our legs off!
There are lots of little hidden away viewpoints so after our swim we parched ourselves on a cliff to watch the sun set. It was a bit cloudy but just sitting up there looking at how amazing the place is was enough! It's a bit difficult for cars to get down the road so there is a little walk way into the town which has little restaurants and opened thatched bungalows so that you can sit overlooking the bay. It's the perfect spot which unfortunately we have to leave tomorrow afternoon for our bus back to Bangkok. We arrive in Bangkok around one o'clock in the morning so it'll be sleeping and then off to the airport for our flight to Fiji.
