We went on this extremely torturous hike today. There were all kinds of warnings everywhere about how you cant go if it is over a certain temp, and heat stroke warnings, and all kinds of crazy stuff. It was these stairs dug right into the side of this mountain it was basically straight up. I was really worried I wouldn't make it to the top. When we reached the top the temp was at 104. We then walked through the canyon system looking at the crazy rock formations. It was a 3 ½ hour hike. Crazy hot I drank 2 liters of water and was still dying. Then we headed back to our bush camp to set up.. We were in this desert camp on a single patch of grass surrounded by red sands haha. We all had our little swag bags, which I think strongly resembled body bags. We got a huge fire going and all hung out around the fire. A few of us went over to the grass and played UNO, it was fun we stuffed our flashlights into our bandanas or hats so we could see. It was warm but super windy. Now I really mean it when I say there was nothing between us and earth but those bags. Needless to say everyone got pretty cuddly with their groups so you didn't feel so exposed. I made Ashley and bre be on either side of me haha. I'm pretty sure all of us slept like s*** last night because we all looked like it the next day. But it was fun and a really cool experience.
