So ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.... we reach the end of our journey. Tara left Canada about 2 weeks ago and i cry myself to sleep every night. I am left here in the snow with my new snowboard waiting for there to be enough to hit the slopes. (This weekend hopefully )
But before we say goodbye, here's what we got up to the last week we were here. Arrival into Calgary airport was christened with the traditional Montana Chicken Wings. this was good. We then made our 2hours journey to the pass. Amidst all this beautiful scenery, of course..Tara Laid sleeping.
We spent the week visiting with Mark and Chantelle and their brand new baby girl, Eilidh (Hayley without the H) We stayed with Chantelle's parents, Doug and Jan, whom we renamed Dougery and Janathan when they were naughty. We timed it quite perfectly with the arrival of their new hot tub! Ooh Yeh!
It was a cold and frosty morning and I awoke early to out on the ministry, as I get out the shower I hear Doug calling my name frantically so I quickly put on some clothes and run up the stairs. Doug stands there with a concerned look on his face and slowly opens the door. He stands back and I see snow everywhere it was like Narnia - I loved it. I screamed, jumped up and down, screamed some more and then woke Jem up. Surprisingly the screaming had already woken me up.Alas we didn't have to right attire to go out on the ministry so instead we had a SNOW DAY. We threw SNOW balls at each other, I made the most perfect SNOW angel you have ever seen, we built a SNOW man which later Mark decided to decapitate, we bought a sledge and went sledge bobbing in the SNOW - please see video's for some sledding entertainment.
Everything looks so pretty in the snow, so Channy took us for a drive down a trail in the back country and to some frozen lakes.
Best moment of the week was going to a congregation book study supper where both Jem and I got in a hype, Doug got onto the piano and they all started singing Kingdom songs so we joined in singing in Irish and Cockney accents, did a bit of operatic singing too. ermmm PA PA, ermmmm PA PA... thats how it goes!
Tara then proceeds to tell them how was amazing she is on the piano and really talked herself up. They were all pretty intrigued and encourage her to play. So she sit down, stretches out her arms, gets into position... pauses... and then played chop sticks. They weren't sure what to make of it until Chan and I start laughing and they realise it's a joke.
They have a funny little congregation here, with 35publishers and the average age of 65. The local needs was on making sure you have your will made out. Ha Ha!
Tara whispered something to me in the meeting, i told her that was inappropriate. She then leans back over and says"Talking about inappropriate...forgot to put a bra on today" I burst out laughing and then couldn't stop giggling, and in a hall on 35, you kinda stand out. Good times! I then announced it over lunch and now I've put it on the Internet...I'm such a good friend...but what you gonna do when I'm thousand of miles away! Ha! Just you wait... I'll cut off all you hair!
We took a trip to Lethbridge for the day to see friends and Chantelle's family. We also went down to Fernie for a day, nearest ski resort. We passed the largest truck in the world in Sparwood. We could stand up in the Wheels!!!
Some of the best bits...
Sitting in the hot tub - jumping out into the snow - then back in the hot tub
Bananagram
Our late night card games and the banter and mockery that went on.
Going to help Doug clean the police station, but they were out and about, so we spent the time getting as many pics as we could get away with of us in uniform or in the prison cells.
Taking walks to frozen waterfalls and seeing bear foot prints.
Out on service calling on authentic log cabins, seeing a stag and watching Mark get attacked by a dog.
Replacing family photo's on the wall with stupid pics of Me and Jem.
...
When it came to Tara's last day, we had more snow but made it to the airport fine. The last supper was traditional Montana's wings then we said our surprisingly unemotional goodbyes.
We had a great time in the mountains and finally getting a chance to play in snow for the first time in my life, just completed the whole trip.
You could say it was the "Ice~ing" on the cake. Ma ha ha!
I love staying with my Canadian parents, but its not been the same since you've left Tars, we miss you heaps.
Although I am bringing in more British reinforcements... Dan Morrison arrives next week. Yay!
I'll be out here a little while longer but as for Jem and Tars Adventure....
THE END!!!
