Well we've travelled across the water to Uruguay. It is joined to
Argentina and Brazil but apparently it is difficult to get across by
land because there's always protestors in the road! So this morning we
jumped on a catamaran from Buenos Aires and in one hour found
ourselves in the lovely historic city of Colonia Del Sacramento. It´s not the capital- That´s Montevidoe- a 2 hour bus ride along the coast but being here gives us a taste of thcountry and another stamp in our passport!
We will be back in Buenos Aires on Wednesday as we haven't yet tangoed and i'm not letting Charles off that lightly! We did have some yummy steaks though and spent yesterday mooching around San Telmo´s Sunday Market by our hostel where we equipped ourselves with hats and scarves. BA is growing on us- I think it´s just very different to what we expected- more like a Europpean city and the people are quite different to the exttremely friendly Brazilians! Where In Rio you hear samba around every corner in BA it's the moody tango accompanied by very serious dancers dressed up to the nines! It´s so nice to hear music everywhere and makes you wish they encouraged it more in London rather than arresting people for busking.
Anyway now we're in Uruguay and it's lovely. It is so peaceful with noone around it's like a ghost town- absolute bliss because for the last 4 days we have been living opposite 20 very loud Spanish girls on a school trip..
Colonia is absolutely tiny- we've only been here 2 hours and have pretty much explored the whole lot but we will enjoy reading and being right on the seafront despite the freezing cold weather!
