Around the World Forever
On the road again.... Willie nelson couldn't have said it any better! After 5 months on Colombia's caribbean coast, I finally said goodbye to all my friends in Santa Marta and caught the overnight bus to Medellin.
The 16 hour journey was long and boring but I need to get used to these long distances. South American countries are huge in comparison to Central Americas' and this will be the norm from now on. When I arrived in Medellin, I called my friend Leydi, whom I had met in Santa Marta a couple weeks ago while she and her husband were vacationing there. She picked me up at the bus terminal and offered me a place to stay with her and her mom in a relatively poor neighborhood on the outskirts of the city. Elkin, her husband, is in Bogota right now. I will be going there soon to see him and his rock band perform a concert there.
But for now, it's Medellin and Leydi is a fantastic tour guide. There is so much to see and do here...very cultural! I've visited museums, parks, villages, and other tourist attractions as well as sampled some of the night life. I also contacted Pablo, the friend of a friend from back home (thanks again Donna)who also showed me around villages like Rio Negro and San Antonio about a half hour's drive from Medellin. The experience has been fantastic thanks to my local friends who are excellent guides to their city. The photos posted are just a sample all the things I've seen and done.
