We're back in Brisbane now, getting ready to leave 'straya, after a lovely trip to Fraser Island.
We arrived at River Heads on Monday, where we left the car and caught the Kingfisher Bay barge across to the island. Just before, we went in a couple of shops to stock up on Pot Noodles (seriously! We don't eat out every night!), and at least three people said to us 'Are ya goin' to the island? You'll need plenty of insect repellent!' Oh, dear!
Our room was in the middle of the rain-forest, again, but it was really clean and bug-free, thank goodness. There were a lot of bugs around, and we got bitten a bit, even though we coated ourselves in Skin So Soft, Aerogard Tropical, and Lemon Myrtle spray!
Tuesday was the day we went on the 4WD tour of the island, and it was great! Highlights included swimming in Lake Mackenzie, the 15 minute pleasure flight taking off and landing back on the beach, and spotting a couple of dingoes!
We also attended a couple of ranger talks, one on bush-tucker, where we feasted on kangaroo and crocodile, and one on bush-medicine, which was interesting too, but not as tasty!
We really liked Fraser Island and the Kingfisher Bay resort, and the bugs weren't as bad as everyone had said!
