Today was a long day of travel. We began today sometime over the North Atlantic, either before or after changing Iceland Air planes in Reykjavik. At 1:30 pm Germany time, we landed in Munich and boarded an S-Bahn train toward downtown Munich. After a bit of confusion finding the train station platform, we finally boarded our 3:16 pm train at 3:15 pm (yes, there was some running with luggage involved). But from there, it was all smooth sailing. 1st class trains from Munich to Bamberg via Nuremberg...it's good to be old and still riding with Eurail tickets. When we got to Bamberg, we were picked up by Bill Schofield, my former mentor teacher during my internship. They are truly gracious hosts. When we arrived at their place, they had appetizers, ribs for dinner, and cookies for desert. We weren't the only guests, either. Bill and his wife Renee are also hosting their niece, Sarah, from Hawaii. We were joined by Stephan, a co-worker, and Shirley, a friend. You can tell how great they are by how much they're loved around here! It's 11:43 pm and Sarah just shut the light off on me, so I guess that means bed. Until tomorrow...
