We have arrived in Italy!!! We flew from Split, Croatia to Milan, Italy and have just boarded a train to head straight to Venice! Was a little stressful journey to get where we are, of course it always is - lucky Tim is by my side! Well, actually it's more like in front of me!! Always a few steps ahead, leading the way.. But I'm bringing up the rear!! The train trip will take us 3 hours, then we get a water taxi and then, finally… we shall arrive at our hostel-all going well! Once we do arrive, we will have caught a plane, a train, an automobile and a water taxi! All in one day! Sure looking forward to trying an Italian wine and some cheese that's for sure!!
We had a few nights in Croatia after the cruise, just to steady our sea legs! As the photos show, we did a day trip to Krka National Park yesterday.. T'was absolutely stunning. The photos really don't do it justice and how can they? The waterfalls are like metres and metres high! Just truly spectacular scenery and so so refreshing! After going from being salty all week, we certainly needed a good freshwater soak! And soak we did! We had a bake in the Croatian sun, again - we did miss out a few days on the cruise so we had to make up for it! Then we dove into the clear water and bobbed along the speedy rapids - Tim possibly with a little more gusto than myself! Was a little hairy scary in some spots, like when you have no control over your ever-speeding-up body! Timothy being old Mr 'I should have been an Olympian swimmer' didn't find the hefty current so strenuous!!
I think our last night in Croatia deserves a mention - mainly because I was taken to cuisine heaven! We went all out and instead of ordering a cheap spaghetti (Rhett & Courts, believe it or not - you do get quite sick of spag bol & creamy carbonara!) we both ordered a perfectly cooked eye fillet of STEAK with green peppercorn sauce - omg yum! Never did I think I would crave a big hunk of meat so badly! And with a side of grilled eggplant, was truly heaven on a plate! The 3 scoops of icecream (kinder bueno, hazelnut & rafaello) may have been a little excessive, ok so WAY excessive but we were really enjoying the moment ok!
Alrighty well Courts get irritated if I have to bore her for an extended period of time reading my journal so I shall leave it here and I am trying to cut down, I just get a little carried away - my lil fingers sure get a work out on the keys that's for sure… cant keep up with my rapid brain processing skills ha ha!
Oh I almost forgot to mention, as we sit here, a very overweight lady sits opposite (actually in our designated seat but that's a different story). Physical description is as follows:
-Midriff black t-shirt, rolls upon rolls of fat are bludging out over her 3 quarter pants and over the arm rest as well, we're talking big!
-Bright blue spectacles, including bright blue neck strap to match
-White headphones are inserted in the ears and are attached to a pastel pink Nintendo game machine which has volume on loud so we can hear 'gaming' noises!!
-Did I mention she only has one hand??
-Lastly and probably the weirdest of the combo, an esky lies beside her. In the esky is, you would never guess it.. A tiny caramel chiwowa (spelling??)
So very odd…is it rude if I steal her puppy!!
On a more sane and normal note, fingers crossed we get to our hostel ok and as we are calling it home for the next 3 nights, it's a goodie! Have to give it to Tim, so far (despite being eaten by evil bugs) accom has been pretty good! Happy Birthday to me! One sleep! xxxx
