I landed in sunny London shortly after 11 am, got through passport control and baggage claim withput any problems. Almost got on the wrong train to Paddington but quickly hopped off and waited 20 minutes for the right train. Went right to the taxi rank and was checking in to my hotel at 1:00. I had to wait a bit since my room wasn't quite ready.
My room is very small but the bathroom is a tight squeeze! !
I have a very unlovely view of the back of a department store.
First stop was the bank for a secure ATM machine. Then wandered the area to see what was around. Had to stop at the drug store and the grocer. Got some pop & snacks. I still can't connect my computer to the free lobby wifi! ! I am having major internet withdrawals!
Decided to unpack & organize my stuff. Because of my bad hair day I thought I'd use the curling iron to fix it. Awhile after plugging it in I heard a noise and smelled smoke. Sure enough, I had started a fire and my curling iron had melted on the bedside table. I blew out the flames and opened the window so I could set it on the window ledge and air out my room. The smoke alarm didn't go off. I asked the front desk what I should do with it. I had to take it down the street to a garbage bin.
So I decided to go in search of free wifi somewhere. Ended up at McDonald's where I couldn't connect there, either.
So, I'm tired, cranky & frustrated.
I think I'll start to turn in. It's only 8:00 but I'll try to plan what I'll do tomorrow and try to stay awake a couple hours longer.
If anyone has any suggestions on what settings I need to change for wireless access with a password I'll be forever grateful! !
