So still in the amazing North East, I´ve ended up in a small andean village, called Tafí Del Valle, it was recommended to me. And it is very nice, surrounded by green mountians, with open spaces and lakes by all sides....it´s prewtty extreme. The village is very clean, it´s clear it´s a nice place to live and pretty well off. There is some tourism here but not much. The bus station was like nothing I´ve seen before...completly empty...no taxis, no one waiting...it´s very quiet and tranquil and nice after spending 3 months in cities. The majortiy of the tourists here are Argentines from other parts of the country on their holidays
The drive here was spectacular two hours descending up the winding mountain paths, surrounding by jungled mountains. I´ve never seen anything like it before, it was incredible. Thick, dense, vast jungle...covered and shrouded in mist and cloud.
The hostel im staying in is a traditional Argentine homstay, and we had a meal all together (meat, again!) with lots of wine followed by the owners singing and doing folklore music (very melancholic lyrics about the hardships of the lives out in the open argentine countryside), it was two guys, one with a drum and one with a guitar, it was amazing. I was the only foreigner there so was even more impressed. The ARgentines are very warm and welcoming people, and we very interested to talk to me and make me feel at home. TÇIt was then followed by some people in ponchos doing some traditional dancing. A great, cultural experience. I had to take pictures, of course!!! I´ve seen loads of folklore and tango by now, by it still impresses me, it´s beautiful music.
Today spent the day ambling round the quiet village...as beautiful as it is there isnt a great deal to do...I eman theres lakes to go fishing, mountains to trek but I haven´t neither the time, nor equipment, nor knowledge to do all this stuff. So I´m heading back to the capital city of the province we´re in San Miguel de Tucumán to find some more adventures, and spend NYE with some argentines there.
