Hey Guys well only 4 days to go can't believe it time goes when your having fun, just to fill you in on our last adventures in Asia. Met up with our tour leader and group in Bangkok had a good night getting to know everyone over dinner then a few drinks in a shell garage. Yup thats right garage by day bar by night all set up with plastic tables and chairs and an impressive cocktail menu. Had to start our travels early in the morning to Cambodia got a tuk tuk at 5 to the local bus station then spent 4 and a half hours till we reached the boarder, had a quick lunch then passed through no-mans land to get our visa's, definately more straight forward than entering Vietnam. Next was the fun part 5 hours in the back of a pick up truck, which i got to say none of us were looking forward to but turned out to be a great laugh, and we got to see loads to. The road if you can call it that was full of pot holes and more like a 4x4 track, and to make it worse it started to piss down so we all looked great by the end, covered in mud from the other passing cars and trucks. We got to Siem Reap at about 7 that night, and definately was not expecting what met us, rows and rows of 5* hotel and classy restaurants catering for the tourists that come to see the temples around, unlucky for us we were only staying in a guesthouse. We went to a few great places to eat while we were in town they have some amazing food and a traditional dish called an Amok which is so yummy.? We had another early day getting up at 4 to go and watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat, well worth it its 1 of the 7 wonders of the world and you can see why when your standing there in frount of it. We then met our drunk guide at 7.00 who supposidly had just finishd partying at a local wedding, very funny winding him up all day. He took us around 5 main temples all amazing but got to say we loved Ta Prohm the one use in the set of Tomb Raider and Indian Johnes best, was set in a jungle the ruins itself have be taken over by greenery, and trees. Spent the whole day pretty much walkng around and sometimes up and down the temples admiring the workmanship that went into them. Went out to a cool bar for a few drinks that night which you always know if there is a group of you will end up being more than a few, after the cocktails and dancing to some dodgy tunes it was off back to the guesthouse. In Cambodia being a poor country there is lots of street kids always begging for food and money and even at 4 in the morning their still hanging around. Our last day in Cambodia we visited a local landmine museaum which although was great to look around was also appaling to read about what the country and the people have and are still going through, we also got to see some of the adopted children that have been injured from mines, all very sad and after a few tears shed by Nat it was back to town for tea. The journey back to Bangkok was by public bus and althought it was about 9 hours was not all that bad all i can say is thank god for I-pod's.At the moment we are down in Phuket staying at a beach town called Karon Bay althought its nice at the moment the first few days did nothing but rain but lucky for us its now just at night and sunny durning the day. Yesterday we went on a boat trip around Phang Nga Bay we canoed thought some of the islands caves up there and stopped off at the famous James Bond Island, where they filmed "the man with the golden gun", and stopped to get some cheesy 007 pictures. Got a few more lazy days down here chilling by the beach before heading back up to Bangkok and home saturday.
The time has come to stop enjoying ourselves and finally hit back to reality, scary hey, where have the last few months gone, see you when were home with a few more stories to tell laters..............
