Well we have crossed the Friendship Bridge into our next country Laos, which was a one hour bus ride from Nong Khai - strange experience we were on the bus then we all had to get off walk through customs get back on for 2 minute ride then back off to go through customs at the other end then back on!?? We are in the new capital Vientiane which is like a building site at the moment they are resurfacing all the raods and covering the sewers over - sounds nice!!!!!!! actually we have been here 6 days and it is defintley worth a visit - we have been occupied the whole time and there are numerous places to eat all of which are nice.? Our favourite is Full Moon Cafe which we are off to tonight for our last meal? We eat breakfast in Joma every morning whch we have found out also have a shop in Luang - nice one!!? Cheap here as expected our room is a fiver a night - not exactly the Ritz but its clean. Mind you it took us a while to get used to the currency, its Kip, and there is nearly 20,000 to the pound so you can imagine our working outs - we gave up, jay just drew one million kip out the atm and i think we are rich!!!!?The sunset here over the mekong river is amazing (see our photos).
We have been quite active since we have been here, hired bikes, completed a gym session for a day, swam and we also took part in the outdoor aerobics session the other night which was funny! you will have to see the footage. Mind you we have also treated oursleves to foot massages and body massages the latter being painful - well for me anyway.
We are flying to Luang Prabang tomorrow for one week and we hope to do a trek there and maybe some mountain biking! The flight is onlyl half an hour and beats an 8 hour bus ride which was the alternative. We will have to start spending like travellers soon but hey we got that flight and a flight into Hanoi for 80 quid so we dont think its that pricey - maybe we will when we get to oz and realise how much of our budget we have blown.
Hope you enjoy the photos there are quite a few on there -some are of Kanchanbari - where we went to visti the Bridge over the River Kwai (in Thailand).
Thanks for all your messages and emails, Dad, Shirl, Lisa it was good to hear your voices we will ring again in a couple of weeks.
