So, bog entry no.2.................... We are now back in NYC!!
We had 3 fun days in Toronto, then one univentful busride later, we arrived in Niagara falls. The falls themselves are a magestic sight, it was even better seeing tghem in the winter, with snow everywhere and lumps of ice floating in the water. Will upload some more pics soon. The USA side is very picturesque, with parks and greenery. The Canadian side is weird though, really tacky and touristy- Lisa said it reminded her of Weston-Super-Mare, and it kinda is! I have never seen so many waxwork museums, believe-it-or-not museums, arcades and haunted houses in one place! Overall Niagara was a great place, although 3 days there is probably enough. Good that we went in winter, as it was not busy at all, but apparently is rammed in peak season. It was really strange and cool to be able to cross a bridge and enter USA, then cross back to Canada.... all the passport checks etc are slightly annoying though! Our hotel was lovely and in walking distance of the falls, free breakfast was good too- we had waffle makers, so could make our own waffles- you know I am loving that!!!
Our flight back to NY was good too, much better than the bus- much quicker too! We went with Jetblue, who were great, lots of legroom, and comfy chairs- 100 times better than BA.
So anyway, now in New York again, out of Manhattan this time though, in the lower east side, in a very strange hotel! Its called hotel 17, and apparently some scary films were made here- we can see why! its really old, and dark, and narrow corridors- I kinda like it though! We have a "big apple greeter" arranged for tomorrow morning, which is a volunteer organisation where locals show you around the area for free, which should be good. Ours is called Naomi, and I spoke to her on the phone earlier and she seems really friendly, so we are looking forward to that. We also are off to see the New York Rangers play Ice Hockey tomorrow, at Madison Square Garden, which should be awesome- although everyone over here is talking about some baseball player (A-Rod?!) who admitted to taking steriods- big surprise there- American sports have steriod problems!!! who knew...!!!
Not long til Rob leaves us now, I likened it to the Lord of the Rings- We are off to carry on our adventure whilst he goes home- I dont think Lisa liked being likened to Frodo though, and Rob doesnt wanna be the guy played by Sean Bean who dies early on in the first film. I still think there is some similarities tho...
Oh, and food updates for those who are interested- we ate at an 1960's American diner in Toronto, photos to come soon, which was really cool- but was more burger and chips!! Then we ate in a Thai restuarant called The Salad Garden, which was brilliant and cheap, I would highly reccomend it for anyone who is ever going to Toronto!!- I had Thai green curry and it was great!
In Niagara we went to a wicked place called The rainforest cafe the second night- which was done out like a rainforest with animals everywhere (a few live, mainly fake tho!) with sound effects etc! It was really cool- photos coming soon for that too.... I had the ribs, and they were good! Then last night, we went to a cheap pub by our hotel, where I had Hot wings and beer again! My favourite meal! Lisa is getting annoyed with me wanting hot wings and cold beer all the time tho,.....
Off to find somewhere to eat tonght now, which could be fun!!
speak to you all soon!!
