Ok, so.... long time, no update....!! Sorry guys, and sorry to get you impatient Tam, that cant be good for you, in your condition.... ;- )
Feel free to insert the usual excusues here.... no time, no internet access, blah, blah, blah..... (its all true tho!!)
And as usual, cant remember where we left you all last!! So we are now in Oz, stayed in Melbourne just over a week, and loved it, awesome place!! then went to a place just outside Melbourne called Phillip Island, Was a wicked little place! its famous for something called "The penguin Parade"- each night, hundreds of little blue penguins, the smallest penguins in the world. come up the beach from the sea to nest!! So of course thats why we went. It was brilliant, they were all so cute, and it was so weird to see all the little penguins appear out the sea, and waddle on up past us!! they were really nosiy too, and horny, apparently, cos loads just started having sex right there and then!! bizarre!! was cool sight tho! (the penguins in general, not the noisy penguin sex!!)
Phillip Island istelf is a cool place, we stayed in the YHA there, and were booked for a double room, but when we got there they upgraded us to a cabin, which was really cool!! We had a kitchen, and a bathroom, and 2 bedrooms, and a big lounge with sofa, and TV and everything!! was much better than just having a room!! So thank-you YHA!
We hired bikes, as there is no public transport on the island, and rode around. We rode to a Koala Conservation park, and saw loads if koalas they are soo cute.
Then the guy who rented us the bikes, told us about a national park place, with wild kangaroos, so we rode there, and rode round this forest, and saw all these kangaroos, it was soo amazing and quiet, only us and the 'roos there. unfortunatly, on the way back, the heavens opened, an a massive storm hit, with hail stones and everything!! we got soaked on our bikes!! doh!! was a fun day tho.
Then after that, we had a long travelling day, got a coach back to Melb. and then straight to the airport, to jump on a plane to Sydney!
My cousin Mark lives in Syd. with his wife, Charlotte- both wonderful people!- and they kindly put us up in their spare room for a week, and generally looked after us, showed us round, took us out, fed us etc!! Was brilliant! Owe them a lot, and are very grateful- and will repay their kindess once we are home and working again!! We saw lots of places other travellers probably never see thanks to them. Ironically, I spoke to Mark more in a week in Sydney, then I probably ever have in the previous 28 years of my life!!
So yeah, now in Sydney! done all the toursity stuff- seen the harbour bridge, the opera house etc, all awesome!!
Then we decided we need money, so need jobs!! so we are now staying in Sydney for 2 months!! Went and got a flat just off of Bondi beach, its wicked!! and joined job agencies, looking for work- did 2 days call centre work last week, and doing a full week there next week- call centre work is so rubbish!! but we need the cash. :-(
Our flat is really cool, quite small, but nice, fully furnished, couple of 2 seater sofas, TV, DVD player etc, so all good. rent is the only problem - have that going out every week, but no cash coming in, so running well low on funds.
Bondi beach is awesome, a great place, great atmosphere and great buzz, something going on every weekend! Seen a fashion show in the street (Ed Hardy), watched a skateboard comp, a soccer skills comp., and then last weekend went to Bondi music festival which was really good!! A mate we met in NZ, Kieran, was in Syd. too, so he came along to the festival with us, and it was gr8 to see him.
off to an AFL game tomo night, that should be fun.
XOXO
