So here we are again, another last day somewhere, and another say of travel ahead of us!
We have had 5 great days in Boulder, it is a wonderful place. The sun has been out, and we have had a great time exploring the rockie mountains. We have done lots of walking and hiking and have loved it! We have been shopping at wholefoods- the best supermarket ever!- apparently we have them in London, and other parts of the UK (so Lisa says!) but they rock! They are like a healthy place, selling loads of fresh fruit and veg, and local produce etc, so we have been buying fresh fruit, some nice fresh baked bread and ceram cheese, and then picnicing on our hikes, it has been great fun!!
Boulder is a really cool little town, it has Colorado Uni here, so is a really studenty town, which has kinda made me regress to my roots, and feel really at home here, as I guess I am still a student at heart!! All the people are fitness mad and walk, run or ride bikes everywhere, which is cool- and everyone is really friendly! And of course, since it is very studenty, there are loads of bars doing happy hours! We have of course partaken of this, and had a few nights out drinking!! We found a Scottish bar on the first night, which made a nice change from all the Irish bars here, and had a fair few beers in there, which was nice. Then the next night we headed to an area called "The Hill" which is apparantly where all the students drink, and went to a really cool bar called The Sink, which has graffiti all over the walls and you are free to add your own! Very cool! We then played a quiz/trivia game, and the guys runnning the bar starting offerring free shots to the bar, if anyone beat them!! They got beat a few times, so we had a few free shots!! all good!! Then last night we ended up in an Irish bar, and met some really cool people, and had a few beers!! We started doing the pub quiz that was on, but we sucked big time, as it was all USA questions, so we know none of it!! We were served by a cool barmaid called Katie (hello if you are reading this!!) who has travelled a lot too, and was really friendly and cool!
Boulder is really cool, and its kinda sad to be leaving, but oh well!! The weather changed today, and it was colder and there was snow on the ground (yes, more snow!!!) We have enjoyed the rockies, and enjoyed doing our hikes and living like students for a bit!! The only down side is that we are staying in a motel which is on the outskirts of town, and is a bit crappy. Still, we havent spent much time here, only to sleep!! Still, be nice to get out of here, its a bit creepy!!
Its on to Rapid City next, in South Dakota, to see Mount Rushmore, so that should be cool!!
Boulder is deffo up there as one of the best places we have been though, and I would highly recommend visiting!! There is a great main street, which is pedestrianised, called Pearl Street, with great shops and cafes and bars, its really cool- and a great creek running through boulder, which you can walk (or run, or bike) along, which was really funky too.
