Got some time to kill, so another update I'm afraid (though these are as much for me to remember what I've actually done!)
Apart from the cricket, not much to report from Bangalore!
India really cannot and should not be hosting the Cricket world cup. There is not enough organisation here to support a major event like this. The England V India game was great, but also a nightmare. It took a good couple of hours to get into the ground with all the Indians pushing and shoving, despite the fact women and and small children looked like they would get crushed (I was ok, as big enough and ugly enough to be ok in these situations) though I was worried for those around me. The cops were just sitting on there arses doing nothing while this was going on. When finally get to the turnstiles found out they only had 2 poxy turnstiles for probably 10,000 people to use to get in!!! I remained pretty calm through all this, though did lose my temper in the ground and picked up and threw a couple of people out off my way (after they had almost pushed me over)
Once in, they had no water for sale, and soft drinks ran out early doors. Not great watching the cricket in the Indian heat and not being able to have anything to drink.
Despite all the negative points (and I could go on forever with these) what a game!!! Has to go down as one of the great odi world cup matches! Right down to the wire. Glad I got to see it, and is another tick in the box of experiences in life.
Never heard so much noise in any sporting event, the Indians love there cricket!
Won't mention the Ireland game....
The one thing I'm finding hard out here is the constant scamming and hassle of everyone trying to rip you off or sell you s*** you don't need or want. You have to be on the ball and watching your back constantly. Is really tough to relax in the big cities.
If anyone is planning a trip to India, I would advise spending as little time as possible in the main cities. Stick to the coast and chilled out places like Goa and Kerala!!
Can't believe it's over a month already since I departed the UK. The time really has gone quick!
Current plan is to spend a couple of weeks chilling out in Kerala, then head back up north to Kolkata/Darjeeling way and hopefully cross over into Nepal.
Hope everyone is good back home and sounds like spring is finally in the air there! Weathers terrible here currently, highs of around 34C and chilly lows of 28C :-)
