#102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107 and 108 - Westmalle Trappist, Chimay Trappist, Band of brothers, Val-dieu grand cru, Lambic cantillion, Bersalis triple and Chimay triple (Belgium) - Back to our free walking tours today. This time in Brussels with D from Dublin. Over the three hours got to see some sights and get our bearings. They have a statue called the Manneken Pis. Which is a little boy pissing. On special occasions they dress him up and he sometimes pees beer. We then checked out a museum which showed among other things the Manneken Pis wardrobe. To my shock no Australian costume.....I have decided to email someone about this and get that little guy dressed up in something Aussie for next Australia Day. I will keep you posted. Also enjoyed some Frittes and Waffles....Nice. Then finished off our Belgium cuisine experience with beer tasting...oh yeah. Blog gold. With our Irish guide D and Mick (or was it paddy....terrible Irish stereotype..it was Mick actually) we drunk the town. I am going to say (I am sorry Munich) the two nicest beers I have had so far are the two Trappist beers in Belgium - the people who say Brussels is boring should be ashamed! The beers both have alcohol contents of close to 10% (happy juice!!!). Mick tells me that this is because when spirits were introduced (with their high alcohol content) they had to increase the alcohol content to keep up. Is that true? To find out you will have to come to Brussels and do the free walking tour with Mick #ishouldgetcommisionforthisshamelessplug.
