Since my last report there was a lot going on here in China. I managed to get from Peking to Hongkong (which was not quite clear according to the displayed location) and I even found my friend Josh really fast. Here are some quick german notes I made when arriving in Hongkong that may give you an inside on what happended when you understand German and are able to read in inbetween the lines:
(Ne Disco is da nix gegen...)
So far so good. We slept in a hostel where I do not found any words for. It was ok, well nothing compared to western standards (which I guess I have to get used to ^^), but if you take a look at the building where it was located you'll s*** bricks..... The hostel was in the aehm fifth floor of a huge building, I do not find any words for that. Maybe I will just upload some pictures.....
In Hongkong you are always surrounded by funny smells that go from "oh interesting" to "RUN, this smell cannot be good". Mostly it's the second. The most interesting thing is the local difference between everything. An example, for a 30 square meter apartment you will pay a lot of money, triple or four times the prices as in a common German city but the apartment is wrecked and the giant resident skyscrapers really do not look healthy. But if you look to the other side of the street there are beautiful skyscrapers that are owned by banks or shopping malls. To really report about Hongkong I think I really have to give my head some time to get focused so I will tell you in person.
Maybe one last sentence, in central Hongkong you feel like an unimportant little ant among millions of other ants inside a giant stony canjyon of scyscrapers without that much oxygen and 100% humidity containing an proper amount of substances that you smell and cannot avoid to smell but that you do not want to have identified.
From above standing at the university or the Viktoria Peak it looks really nice by day and especially by night and you have some wind blowing away everything that is stuck in your nose. Moreover there are much less people and you can walk trough some kind of a steep forest with many noisy animals in the bushes and trees. This really felt good after being in the city but as it is so steep you should avoid going down that path when carrying 20 kg of luggage with you.
It is really not possible to write all the things that I noticed and that happended down but here are a few things might be interesting for you:
I am now at the apartment of Josh's girlfriend. It is quite big and I have my own room and a giant bed. The shower was a relief :) We just immigrated to main china right now which was quite interesting because the bus brought us to the boarder of Hong Kong where we have to leave and proceed by foot to emigrate from Hong Kong before hopping into the bus again which then brought us to the actual Chinese boarder over a big river where we had to immigrate again. Everything looks quite wasted. Behind the boarder a lot of people tried to make us believe that they will drive us wherever we want so that we needed some time to get to a official and save taxi. This taxi was an old Volkswagen. When we put our luggage in the trunk and tried to close it, it refused to close. The driver actually said that everything is okay and we should enter the car now because a lot of people were behind us and that everything will be good. Inside the car we found no safety belts so we drove of. On every small error on the street the trunk went open and closed again and I hoped all the time that our backpacks remain inside and would not hop off onto the highway. In the end everything went right and I will now try to sleep having all these impressions in my mind.
Good night everyone!
