The rest of our time in Costa Rica was spent with the intent of making our way South to Panama. After seeing Manuel Antonio National Park we walked to town and caught a bus down the coast to Dominical, a tiny surf town. The town was primarily made up of restaurants, accommodation and minimarts. When we arrived we met a friendly local from California who went by the name "Good Time Charlie' and told us the best place to stay. He followed his helpful advice by then trying to convince us to go to his bar on Friday night, which we enthusiastically agreed to although we weren't planning on staying past Thursday. Over the course of the evening we had the exact same conversation with him three more times.
In the morning we hitchhiked up to the waterfall which, besides the surf, is the town's main attraction. After getting a ride up to the gate we squeezed into the boot of a 4x4 full of European backpackers also keen to see the falls. After hiking through thick mud and up flowing streams the heavens opened and we were greeted with more rain.
From Dominical we hitchhiked to Uvita, another coastal town with only slightly more to offer. In Uvita we visited some more falls, the Whales Tail National Park and a bamboo forest. While the area was quite nice it was just too hot and humid to enjoy.
