We spent two days walking around Nanning, soaking in the local way of life. Nanning is much like Guangzhou only with less infrastructure and a little more chaos.

We got there and departed via overnight sleeper trains which housed 6 people per cabin, 3 per wall. The top two beds didn't have enough space to sit upright and the mattresses were more like a blanket over concrete. The toilets were horrible, smelly squat toilets, but that's the norm in China. We were just lucky they had doors and weren't clogged. Despite how we have described the trains, we both quite enjoyed the experience and managed to get enough sleep to walk around for an entire day afterwards.
