After some morning shopping we decide to head in different directions. Mum and I drove out to Mon Repos to look at the turtle rookery while Fraser and Dad visited the Hinkler Museum, featuring the many achievements of pioneer aviator Bert Hinkler. Fraser enjoyed the interactive displays which had flight simulators.

Bundaberg, Queensland

A visit to the Bundaberg Barrel where they brew the famous Bundaberg ginger beer, and many other delicious flvours we were able to taste on the tour. We then drove to Bargara for some fish and chips on the beachfront before returning to Bundy to do some shopping.

Just south of Monto we find we are in Bunyip country, with a statue of just what we might meet along the local creeks. All clear and we continue onto Gin Gin for lunch before arriving in Bundaberg.

Moonford, Queensland

An early light shower of rain makes us realise how dusty the car really is. We head off on a short (6km) walk to the Giants Chair Lookout and then a loop track to Fern Pool. The walk was fun and after lunch we headed to Cania Lake (it's actually a water storage dam) where we enjoyed a kayak in amongst the water skiiers.

Leaving the dust of Carnarvon Gorge behind we travel to Rolleston then onto Banana and Bilolea for fuel and supplies. We then travel south to Cania Gorge National Park where we set up for a couple of days and some more bushwalking.
