I simply love Edinburgh! And I love the apartment we have here. The city is beautiful, well-preserved, steeped in tradition, proud and appreciative of its history, yet modern and situated in one of the most beautiful geographic settings I've ever seen. Everywhere you look, there is a treat for the eyes. The people here are like good neighbors, friendly, helpful and they love to chat. Our apartment is the best we've had on the trip. It's completely modern but set in an old building on a cobblestone lane. Best of all, it's location allows easy walking to virtually anything we need or want to visit. All who travel, must put this city and this apartment on your list!
Today is our last day here. We plan to visit the Botanical Gardens and maybe Prince Albert's Monument. I'm a little sad to say good-bye. It's important to note, however, that we may have had an experience that few others have in that the weather has been spectacular -- and Edinburgh is not known for its ideal weather. The temp was 75 yesterday and there was hardly a cloud in the sky -- so far, it looks like a repeat is in the making for today.
Regardless, rain or shine, mild or cold, I think I would still nominate this part of the world as one of my very favorites.
More about our day later . . .
