They say bad things happen in threes and after our first few hours of travel I am beginning to think that they may in fact be right. At about midday I gleefully threw my bags into the car, said my goodbyes and headed with my mother to Urlingford with the plan of getting a bus from there directly to the airport. A simple and flawless plan you might thing but alas nothing is simple when it comes to the Irish transport system. It turned out that the bus system had on the previous day decided to no longer stop in urlingford but had failed to inform its loyal customers. We had a massive panic as we booted it to portlaoise in the hopes of catching a bus from there. Luckily we caught the bus in the nick of time. I said my farewells to my dear mother, and relaxed looking forward to the rest of what I hoped to be a stress free journey.
In the airport however I was greeted my three very stressful girls, introducing my travel companions, Ruth (also my sister), Brid (often referred to as Briddie) and Deirdre (LOVES to be referred to as Deir-Dreeeeee). Unfortunately Deir-Dreeeee booked the wrong flights. While myself, Ruth and Brid had an hour stop over in Manchester and a three hour stopover in Abu Dhabi, Deirdre had an overnight on Manchester and a 14 wait in Abu Dhabi. We tried desperately to change the flights but to no avail and in Manchester we had to part with Deirdre for a Short while.
I am sorry to say that the third and final hick-up happened to yours truly. My bag never showed up in Bangkok and after speaking to some only mildly helpful ethiad staff I found out that like good auld deirdreee my bags were also stuck in Manchester. So in conclusion yes three bad things did occur to us unfortunate fools during our journey but who the hell cares because we are in Bangkok baby!!!!!
