Hola everyone!
I am so happy to be finally here in the Bay Islands, it was some long travel days to get here!
After a salsa class in Antigua, we had a farewell night out to say bye to Sandra, Sharon and Stefi, and decided we after a one hour class that we could salsa like the pro's... hmm not quite!
We then met the 3 new kids on the Sunday, who are all Brits so we're taking over yay!! Guy and Sarah are a couple from London and Helena is from Nottingham. They're all lovely so settled in the group quick!
We were up and ready to leave 4.30am the next day! Sean wasn't joking when he told us the early travel days really start on the second part of the trip! We arrived in Copan around noon, so that gave us time to look at th ruins. It was our last set of Mayan ruins on this tour so we all went, but I think we're all ruined out now! The tour guide was mental, Marvin the Martian. He was telling us about the Mayan rituals, and how they seemed crazy because they were all high on drugs (I'm pretty sure he was too!). He was a good tour guide though. We saw loads of parrots, they were beautifully coloured! There were also some tarantula sized spiders that were nice colours but I wasn't getting close to get a picture of them!
We left Copan yesterday at 5.30am for the longest day we've had yet! We got two buses for 4 hours each, which I got quite a good sleep on apart from when we were on the windy roads. Then we had 2 hours to wait for the ferry across to the islands, and then a mini van. We didn't arrive until about 6ish!!! We went out for a quick drink last night, but all of us were dead on our feet. The sleep in this morning was very welcome!
We've had a really lazy day today. Got a smoothie for breakfast (seeing as there is no veg in any restaurant, we were lacking some good old vitamin C). Then we just lounged on the beach all day. Debbies not feeling great, so needed to take it easy.
The island I'm on is home to Port Royal (like in Pirates of the Carribbean), but its on the other side of the island (33miles away) so it may be a bit of a trek. We are going to wander tomorrow to see if there is any pirate-y stuff.
I know the 'Jack Sparrow' we met in Belize looks nothing like him, but he was just the funniest and bizarrest man ever. He tried so hard to do the voice, which was Ok sometimes, but then sometimes he would just sound French!
Anyway not much to report from the buses, boats and taxis! And the only thing to do on this island is the diving, which is expensive if you haven't done it before. So we're just enjoying the chance for a relax!
Speak soon! Next time I put photos up I'll try and tag them with names!
Love lots xXx
