J & J's Travels
Hey Guys,
Thought I'd be better off writing about Hoi An as the main activity in this lovely little sea side village was tailoring.
Street after street was lined with shops, shops, shops filled with beautifully designed dresses, suits and other regalia.
The women would come out of the shops or stop you in the street and ask you to come into their store they're favourite selling tactic was "we can make anything." They would dazzle you with catalogue after catalogue of catwalk designs and repeat their sales pitch. For many girls and some guys this is a dream made in heaven. Pictures of looking faboulous in a lovely evening gown floats through the mind once or twice.
We bumped into many foreigners who had spent most of their travel budget on shipping home entire wadrobes of handmade clothes.
After spending the day browsing catalogues you can rest your weary feet in a little cafe beside the river. Most of the buildings like the rest of Vietnam has a strong French colonial influence so once again you feel as if you are in the south of france while wandering the little network of streets. Hotel accommodation is also very lush and we managed to wrangle a lovely cheap hotel room, which has since spoiled us for any future accommodation.
