Before leaving Lima we did a city tour, lots of lovely buildings fron the Spanish times, the paintings from that time have a strong European look to them, our guide was very good just the two of us again so we got lots of detail. Later that night we went out with Alison´s relatives,Ariceli her brother-in-law Lewis and a friend Ceclia,we went to a traditional dance show,it was magnificent but nobody told me I was expected to dance too,a bonny looking ticket in hiking boots!!!Got home at 4 am. up at 7am.to get to our next stop!!
Our Gap leader to La Paz is Ronnie,we are a group of 7,all females, there was meant to be a man but he didn´t turn up.I reckon he saw the list of who was going and took fright. One of the girls is from New Zealand and the rest are British all about Alison´s age so that is good for her.
Our first stop was to be in Pisco but 90% of it was destroyed in the earthquake,we passed through an area that was also affected,it was heart wrenching to see the children running along side the bus with their hands out,I wanted to get out and stay there. There was a lot of recovery work going on and the crops were growing in the fields and people working in them.We continued on to Nazca, the journey took 9 hours.
