So here we go again. Off on another adventure. Its been a couple months since we came back from Europe. Its been great to be back. Hanging out with our families, doing a bit of work on Ailsa's house (not a huge amount though!); I even enjoyed doing a couple week's work with Cap Gemini. I say work; it was just two weeks sitting in classrooms, learning the ropes. But it was good to be pro-active again. I have a habit of getting very lazy if I don't have something to spur me on.
Katie did a bit of baby-sitting for her pals. That kept her fairly busy on top of the painting. And Matthew and little Katie are a great laugh! We managed a trip to Belladrum too. I wasn't sure if we'd actually make it this year, but Ailsa had tickets sitting. I may have missed the first day and a half myself but we had a great time.
Was awesome seeing my own family of course. Its been a while since I sat up all night with Michael. I'm really glad we managed to get together before leaving too. While we had plenty time to chill out, everything got a bit rushed towards the end. And a little chaotic perhaps.
We'd been looking on the Staydu website awhile and the place in Romania stood out above all the others. Helping to renovate old houses as holiday homes and harvesting fruit. Food, housing and a small salary on top. Exactly what we needed. So we sent an E-mail. We got a reply and we started to sort things out. Transport into Romania looked awful at first. Long flights with several connections, and crazy prices. Duncan ((our man in Romania) recommended Wizzair though. They only flew into Cluj Napoca in Romania from Luton but the price was right. We booked our flight and we booked the flight to Luton too, from Glasgow. It was real again.
Thinking about doing these things and looking around the internet for options is very easy. Its not until you actually have to make the decision, push that little button on the Wizzair website to confirm payment, that you realise what a big step you're taking. It's a big weight on your shoulders, but you hit the button, you read your confirmation E-mails and think 'that's it, we're going'. You still worry, a lot, but you've set off down the road and you can't turn back. Well, you can cancel your tickets; get a refund and tell the people you've changed your mind. But our mind was very much made up. We wanted to go. It was definitely the right thing to do. And before we knew it we had just one week to go.
Duncan had sent us an E-mail asking if we'd sorted our dates out and we got back to him to tell him we'd be arriving on the 15th. We never heard anything after that. I just operated under the assumption that he'd got the E-mail and didn't feel the need to reply. As it got closer to the date we still heard nothing. Katie was worried. I was worried too, but I couldn't show it. Our flights were sorted. We'd be leaving imminently. We had to go and just see what happened. We'd been E-mailing Back and forth, they knew we were planning to come. Maybe they wouldn't be around when we arrived, but we could figure things out when we got to that point. That wouldn't happen anyway. They'd be there. We'd arrive and it'll all be fine.
Bags are packed. Almost forgot how to do that. You get used to chucking everything together and sorting your luggage out, but it's a little more difficult when you gotta leave most of your stuff behind. We'd travelled, we knew what we would and wouldn't need; but maybe that extra warm hat would come in handy. Do we have enough in our medicine bag? All the paperwork's in order? Oh, how about this or maybe that? Its not a big deal though. If you miss anything you just make do. If you've overpacked, well who cares. We don't plan on moving about so much this time anyway. But I've definitely packed lighter that I did the first time. I've learned a little since then. I didn't even look at what went into Kate's bag. It was certainly full anyway. I think she may not have enough long-legged clothing. Do leggings count?
