Nicole again!
Hi from Kuala Lumpur- the home of the great markets and the Petronas Twin Towers.
Since we last wrote we had a day surfing/shopping in Kuta and flew to Singapore and met back up with Ayesha who was now feeling better. Singapore was fantastic. On the first night Matt and I went out at 1am, and after a Clark Quay Kebab, went into Ministry of Sound and partied til the break of dawn. Amazing night!
All 4 of us went to the night safari, (the worlds 1st and i think only), and did a fair bit of shopping. The best part of our time would have to be our regualar trips to our local indian ; we're talking full on eat with hands, off a banana leaf stuff! Jess looked for a Sari (we were staying in Little india if you hadnt noticed!) but with no luck. I saw some of the Botanic gardens while Jess got some little fish to eat dead skin off her feet (hhhhhhut!) and went for the hunt for the Shamier graves. No luck but did walk on the grave of the family who found and named the famous orchid - Jaoquin. I'll let the others fill in a bit more about Singapore if they'd like to, as Matt and I left a day early to enter Malaysia and stop at Melacca while Jess and Ayesha saw Sentosa.
Matt, just finishing off this blog... Melacca was cool, a nice place to stop over at en route to kaula lumpur, with it's fascinating history and subsequent cultural diversity the museums and walks deserved more time than we could really spare. The higlight however has to be have been Nicole and my ride in the malaysian equivalent of a tuctuc...which involved a bicycle with a carriage attached to one side and loads of christmas lights and plastic flowers, as well as a CD player. As we started of the cyclist said lets see what CD i have...was some random HipHop which he claims was english...hmmmm. Went to a really nice restaurant for dinner called Harpers, which although a bit pricier than your average backpackers food hole it was superb food and still supremely cheap when compared to what it would cost in the UK for similar.
After dinner and a stroll down the quayside Nicole and I headed back to Sunny's Inn, a very cheap, but very friendly and helpful place.
Anyway, next day we got the bus to KL and checked immediately into Chinatown Inn, a pleasant if not a little bland place but with all the necessary immenities and superbly placed for the night market in CHina town... something we threw a fare bit of money into buying cheap poloshirts and handbags galore! (the hansbags for me and poloshirts for the girls!?!)
That first evening we also managed to go out for some superb food at the reggae bar and later an indian place right by Nikko hotel, can't remember the name...?
Today we've been up to Badu caves which was cool and cheap as free entry and studpidly cheap buses.
Following a spa visit where I had my feet cleansed by hundreds of little fish (who nibble at your dead skin - gross!) and the girls had massage, we are now contemplating the evening ahead and what a decision it is!? choices choices! The important thing is that tonight marks the last night we will all be together travelling as tomoz, as Nicole and I are off to thailand, Ayesha is heading off on a family holiday, and Jess is off on her STA tour of cambodia...never fear though, as both parties plan to keep the blog updated!!
