We set off from Apollo Bay to do the second halfof the Great Ocean Road. This part of the drive involved going along coastal roads with literally a cliff edge on one side, mixed with the beautiful sunshine, it mad for some amazing scenery.
The highlight of this part of the drive though, was going through the roads lined with gum trees with heaps of koalas climbing around in them. Apart from the one we'd seen high up in a tree at Margarets in Renmark, these were the first wild koalas we'd seen. It wasn't even difficult to find them as they were everywhere in no particular hurry to go anywhere. Just very lethargic clutching on to a branch, munching away on gum leaves.
We then drove along the surf coast, seeing as you'd expect, plenty of big waves and surfers.
The Great Ocean Road seemed to come to an end in a little town called Torquay, also known as the surf capital of Australia. It certainly seemed it too with a huge outdoor mall consisting of Quiksilver, Rip Curl, Billabong (and every other surf brand you can think of) stores. We had a look around but left pretty sharply as we soon out it's not much fun going through all these good shops with no money!
After driving through Geelong, we shortly arrived in Melbourne and stopped to stay in a little suburb, so could we find a caravan park. We did find one, and after sorting out a load of junk we'd accumalated, we spent our very last night in the van.
It was a pretty weird night too, as it turned out the caravan park didn't seem to have anyone travelling, but all the people lived there. So as we lay there reminiscing about the times in the van, we slowly fell asleep listening to a couple argue outside. It was rather strange end to past weeks road trip.
