Today we took the 20km trek through Tongariro National park and climbed MT Ngauruhoe one of NZ biggest active volcanoes. AKA Mt Doom from Lord of the rings. The 2287m summit was a mad scramble up the loose volcanic rock then a long slide down causing a small avalanche of dust and rock.
