We left Boracay at 7pm and got a shuttle bus to Kalibo airport which went smoothly and actually quicker than we expected. When we got to the airport our plane was delayed ergh! It was 9pm and we had to sit and wait around until our plane finally arrived at 02.30am. We were getting worried as we already had another flight booked to get to Vietnam at 06.50am. We managed to get to Manila airport check in and get to the waiting area. We hadn't changed our money up yet thinking they would have a currency exchange for us to get dollars otherwise we were unable to get our visa at Vietnam airport. We spent a good hour hunting the airport trying to get out to change our money up and no one would let us leave. Finally Tom found a lady and he got taken out by several security guards and got dollars yay. We have arrived in Ho Chi Minh City after a painful 14 hour journey and no sleep! We got to our hostel and it doesn't have a shower... Brilliant! Haha we are tired but still wanted to have a look around we found a cheap little cafe for some breakfast. I had a banana crepe and Tom had scrambled egg on toast which tasted like meat! We found a really pretty park five minutes from where we are staying and we saw the biggest caterpillar didn't get a photo which is a little gutting as it was huge! We've already seen a road accident they drive stupid over here so we definitely aren't going to be renting a scooter. We had a little nap and then went to see The Opera House, Notre Dame and Reunification Palace. It's such a lovely city and we can't believe how built up it is. We both had our first Vietnamese coffee and we have been missing out it was delicious! We took a walk through the park and a Vietnamese girl asked us to say Happy Birthday on a video to her friend. We said that's fine and asked the friends name... Her name was Urine! Yep Urine! We had to hold our laughter in and then we had to say Happy Birthday Urine on video without giggling! We don't want to spend money on taxis so we walked an hour to Saigon Botanical Gardens and Zoo. The place was massive and had some of the healthiest looking animals we've seen and it's one of the oldest zoos. We were admiring an albino looking fluff ball monkey when it started swinging towards us in the cage looking really friendly then it's hand reached out of the cage and picked up a bit of fruit, we thought he was going to eat it but instead he threw it straight at us. We dodged the fruit and he started going "oooooooh" it was insane he then did it again! All the locals looked like they loved it as we were the only white people there. It was a cheeked gibbon the name explains why it was so cheeky! After the zoo we walked to see Jade Emperor Pagoda it was so pretty and had loads of turtles swimming outside. We found a little shop called The Waffle Place it was very quirky inside and we got a peanut butter waffle which Tom loved! Tom had his first bowl of Pho which we pronounce poo :) which is a local dish. Tom had his first beer which was 30p for a pint! I had the biggest pancake ever it was coming off the side of the plate! The roads over here are a nightmare to cross. We were planning on getting a scooter whilst we were over here but everyday we have seen an accident so we are going to stick to walking! Today we visited The Cu Chi Tunnels. Our tour guide was called Bean. We are pretty sure he was loopy and he just did not shut up. Tom wasn't feeling well and didn't have the patience to deal with him so he just stared our the window whilst I nodded along. The bloke in front of us fell asleep and we could see his head bobbing all over the place until we turned a corner and his head landed in to a girls lap next to him haha. We got to the tunnels and everywhere stated no smoking so what does he do... Light a fag he must of got through the whole packet whilst we were there. It was really interesting to see the tunnels. We both went in a fighter hole which was stupidly small. We went in the tunnels and I couldn't believe that Tom actually fitted! It was so painful on our legs I have no idea how they did it. We got to the end and we came out dripping with sweat. Tom was the tallest person there and cut all his knees. As we left we drove past a bad accident a really young boy had come off his scooter and had clearly not been moving or conscious for a long time. We hope he managed to wake up but it didn't look good. We saw a humongous centipede made me shiver it was vile! I've fallen in love with a thin crispy waffle that a little lady makes on the street. Tom now has a chest infection. It's been a hectic 4 days but we are travelling to Dalat tomorrow on a 7 hour bus journey and think we are spending a week there. It's going to be a lot cooler as it is a mountain town so we are looking forward to a break from the heat and some lovely views.
