Swimmers...Check...Towel...Check...Sunnies...Check...Sunscreen...Check...Other form of Sun Protection...CHECK for today it was all about the Sun, Sand and Sea!
We took a loud, noisy, slow boat to the first island where we jumped out into the water and swam over to the snorkeling area. As usual I was one of the first to get in and go for it. It was really exhausting swimming to the spot and I was jealous that other boats were much closer to the destination than ours. The four of us that had been swimming turned around to find that no one else had joined us and couldn't believe it when the boat was moving closer and made it easier for the others to access. :(
I was a little freaked out at first while snorkeling as it had been many years since my last experience and I couldn't get over the concept that you could breathe while your head was under the water. I eventually calmed myself down and just went for it so that I could enjoy the beauty below. It wasn't long before I had to swim back to the boat where we off to our next island.
Bamboo Island was gorgeous... one of those destinations that you see in magazine adds... A few palm trees, calm water, beach shacks and a bar lined the shores. My ladies, (Sarah, Jess and I) enjoyed the luxurios Pina Colada's while we sunbathed on the bright sand.
Lunch involved some fish, bread, salad and a Khmer Curry. We then had the decision of what to do next. This was apparently the best island so the majority of the group wanted to stay and continue relaxing. Sarah, El, Matt and myself decided to go with Bouna to the otherside of the island... A short jungle trek lead us to opposite side... it was just as beautiful, if not more than Bamboo. The water was CRYSTAL clear and there was hardly a sole present on Koh Ru Island. We went for a long dip in the beach and a fast paced run along the sand up to the rocks and back again. I wanted to hire the little shacks that were $5 US but were all taken (there were only 5). It was just too beautiful and I didn't want to leave.
We had to make our way back home. I had a quick nap and a rest from the sun as I was very burnt on my lower back where the sunscreen had been missed! We all planned our own dinner and I went with Anto, Christine, Sarah and Jess to the beach again for dinner and we settled for our BBQ selection at the Tree House... I ordered a 'Pregnancy Test" (don't be frightened it's only and alcoholic beverage with Mailbu, Baileys and Milk) and it was delicious! Tomorrow only Tim and I have booked in for the Jungle Trek while the rest of the group relax and unwind!...
