Again, it was another public bus to our next destination. We were to arrive in Phnom Penh and then travel further on our private bus to our homestay. Along our way to Kampong Chan, we once again had to put up with the honking of the bus as we tried to rest. One of our stops involved a cultural experience as we saw an array of Cambodian fried delicacies... chickens, frogs, crickets and the infamous TARANTULA's. I did not want to try one but I thought why not give it ago. The crunchy, salty, bbq'd tarantula was edible, but not something I would need to try again. I had a few bites of the legs and thought that was enough for more before scaring Anto and throwing it at him as he jumped and screamed!
We stayed in Phnom Penh for a few hours so we grabbed something to eat and I spoke to Dad on the phone. I had a bit of an arguement over the price as they quoted me wrong... thats asia for you...
Our trip to our homestay was longish as it was a bumpy tiny road and we had to cross flooded rivers occasionally. We stayed in a small little village with a local family and shared one room between 7-8 of us. Before dinner, we had fresh Coconut Juice that was cut down from the trees and a few had a go at chopping them. For dinner we had a beautifully home cooked meal. The sleep was quite uncomfortable as it was a wooden matress bed with one blanket on top, but I am glad that I got to experience it!
