This morning I got ready for our daily adventures and went for breakfast with Rachel and Laura to The Blue Pumpkin. I had fresh bread with butter and Jam and ordered a hot chocolate. We then met back at the hotel with the rest of the group for our full day tour to Angkor Wat. We paid $20 for our passes and had our photo taken in them, bit like a passport. We saw four temples and a few smaller ones. They were built between the 12th and 15th centuries. The way it was built and all the intricate carvings were amazing. After discovering Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, we stopped to have some lunch. Everytime we got on and off our bus we were swamped by so many Cambodian Children. You had to focus on not feeling sorry for them as begged "One dollar for five bracelet, You buy from me, OKAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!"
For lunch I had a Khmer Amok Squid Curry which was delicious. It came in an actual coconut. We visited the next two temples one of which had been used in the film Tomb Raider. By this stage I had taken so many photos and I really don't have a lot of room left for the rest of the trip LOL.
On the way back to our hotel I organised for everyone to come back to my room for a 'balcony party.'as I was the only one with a balcony and a view (lucky me). I went down to the supermarket to buy some nibblies for everyone as well as some famous long necks of Chang and a bottle of red to share with Anto.
We put on some good tunes and chatted away. Later we headed out to have some dinner and decided on a Cambodian BBQ. We had a small plate in the middle of the table with hot coals underneath and then a selection of fresh uncooked meat, veggies and noodles to cook on the BBQ. We all had a bit of beef, chicken, pork, fish, squid, crocodile and snake. It was so delicious (except maybe not the snake!)
It was game on after dinner as we headed for a popular bar on Pub Street. It was a very popular Tourist bar. We met Bouna our tour guide there as well as he was catching up with his friends. Christine, Anto, Sarah, Tim, Rachel, Laura and myself all indulged in the infamous 'buckets'. My favourite of course being the redbull and vodka. I also had a nice melon one too. Red bull is amazing over here, its not fizzy, its like a strong sirup (if you are reading Shelley and Courtney its beter than that Mother drink LOL)
We also played some pool and I even beat a few of the locals.
I do apologise for this long blog. Its hard to access the internet over here and I am so far behind on my blogs! My phone doesn't work either and I have no idea why! I will add further blogs when possible. Cheers guys xoxox
