Ok welll, I didn't get round to this blog yesterday because, well I was bored of typing and the bloddy internet we were both on was pretending not to upload the text I was writing, so both I and Jade, who in the end sent of two versions of tomorrows (ie 06.03.08 = Sukothai) blog, were very much angered!!
But it all came good in the end, and here I am catching up on some more of our adventure reviously undocumented!!!
We start once again with the waking up part! We got up nice and early, enabling ourselves to see the grand palace and the museum within, justa s it opened, and before we had to catch our train. The palace was just over the road from our hotel making the commute as easy as could be hoped for. The sun wasnt at full height or strength yet and so the weather was really nice, and the gardens surrounding, the palace/ruins were nicely kept and charming, and the building were interesting, but no more really, more European than anything, I'm told by the sign within that the arcitect got hints from a pope or priest of some description from the Vatican while building, which explains that. However, as seems to be our luck on this trip, the museum was mainnly closed for renovations, although the small downstairs section was open. After a quick browse of that we headed back to the hotel, got our bags sorted and headed off to train station, I stopped at a small restaurant thingy to get a quick small breakfast, Jade must be dieting, or be homosexual or something because she didn't eat!!! or maybe is it me who eats too much, it seems we'll never know!!
When we got to the station, we found out the Special Express Diesel Railcar, to use it's correct name! was much more expensive than we'd expected, but heyhey, I thought it's along journey, as far as I knew Jade thought the same, and later conversations have confirmed this!! The train journey was pleasant, with individual seats, and we got served a meal, a bit like an airplane meal, Thai stlye, meaning lots of rice and some dodgy looking chicken,, which was an unexpected surprise. Jade got chatting to a Thai policeman next to her testing out her text book Thai, I on the other hand was offered a place to put my water by my lady, who was then replaced by a fat, clearly tird Thai man, who took some of my room, fell a sleep and got his snor on!!!
The trip was only 3 hours, alot shorter than I expected, Jade of course knew all the ins and outs, so it was just I who was in the dark!! When we got to the difficult to spell and remmber how to say town/city of Phitsanulok, we headed off looking for a hotel, and Im struggling to seperate memoies of Lopburi and Phitsanulok, as to where we stayed. Oh yea, we stayed at Bon Bon guest house, near a shop where a dog really, and I mean really hated us, it barked so much everytime we walked past it. It turns out that I like the opposite of Dr. Dolittle, something along the lines of Dr. Don'tbig, was the witty coment I came up with, where animals don't talk to me, but just all hate me!!
Ouy room was ok, a bit of a smell, but a tv that only had two English speakingchannels made up for that. Those channels wre.....Disney Channel, and Disney Channel for proper youngens. We got out to look at the Wats that this city has to offer, they weren't much, as this city is usually just used as a base for those planning to see Sukothai, as we were doing. The walk however lead to a market, where Jade found a few memories of Barbadoes, and we got given some free Tamerine through here fantastic ability to blag that she'd never seen it before. After her blatent lies had got us some free fruit is it??? We walked on along the river reminising about both Mongolia and Vietnam respectivly, and discussing our grievances about each other, it wasn't that longer conversation but a neccesary one. When we got back to the room, we learn that Lilo and Snitch the movie was to be played, and immediatly this became the main point of our evening. We had I must added walked around endlessly for a while, and no of course we weren't lost at all, we're two senisable clever people!!!
We went and got some food, Jade rates it as her best meal yet, and then got back to room having missed the beginning of the film, but we settled in for the night anyway.
