We lay in until about 9am and headed with our sealed box of goodies to the local post office. We had it weigh in at 4.7kg carrying our coats and souvenirs costing 201 yuan £20. This was the cheapest method of post and will get there by boat taking a mere 3 months to reach Jacqs sisters - none of the options offer insurance sadly so it's a case of fingers crossed. Crazy to think it will be there when we are halfway on our journey! While in there Jacq makes friends with two post men (pic above) who tell her she has a lovely face and eyes and they'd like to link arms with her - dirty beggars - it's all taken in good humour though and an obligatory selfie is taken ;)
We then head for jishaden road, Jacqs' research has highlighted a famous Irish bar (like a moth to the flame) and she is praying for an Irish breakfast - the directions indicate it's not a far walk from the station. 40 mins after arriving at the station, 2 wrong turns and a swift stock up on Imodium (just in case) paracetamol and centrum - we have stopped people for directions and appear to be on track but this pub is anything but near the station.
We stop at a tattoo parlour, Matt gets a quote for Chinese symbols of a male and a female to represent us both - £60 seems a bit much so we move onto the yongkang road, devastated to discover the Irish bar doesn't open til 4pm, it's 12pm - clearly no breakfast orders here then.
We settle for a kebab in the opposite cafe offering two for 1, the catch being the cheaper one (which was Jacqs chicken pitta) will only come with approx. 4 scraps of chicken - Matt has a more agreeably filled lamb wrap. It's not gone well this venture of ours, so we trek on stopping at a local grocery store, the biggest we've seen locally and get toiletries. We are leaving for Thailand tomorrow and need to stock up, unsure as to what will and won't be available when we get there. We then catch the train home and chill for the night picking up two fat chocolate and cream eclairs. Who said travellers lose weight?
We video call Phillip, Anna and Jamie before bed, great seeing people from home and it's so clear feels like they are only down the road!
