On Saturday we headed off to start the Oodnadatta track. It was very windy. We saw giant sculptures, natural springs, wedge tailed eagles and Lake Eyre South. The lake didn't have any water but it did have lots and lots of salt that we licked. We stopped for the night at Coward Springs. They have made a tiny spa out of an old bore that we swam in. After Coward springs we kept driving and stopped at William creek hotel for lunch. We got to pat a pet dingo, he was very friendly and it made me miss my dog Charlie. We also saw some old rockets that landed nearby. We drove on to stay the night at Lake Caddibarrawirracanna. It was a free camp beside a river but we couldn't swim because the mud was too deep.
The next morning we drove to Coober Pedy. We had lunch at a cool skate park. Next we set up at a great caravan park, then we went noodling (digging in dirt). Sometimes you can find gypsum or opals if you're lucky. Dad, Will and I found a few little pieces of gypsum and potch. Tomorrow we will try a different spot to get some opals.
