Very tired the next morning. Ate breakfast and after fully waterproofing our gear we headed again for the pickup to Silima. We arrived right next to bus station. Next stop monkey bay! We have either been fortunate or unfortunate with the busses so far. We never miss them but are always the last on meaning we stand!
Bus journey was a long 4 hours through heavy rain, made the same mistake of offering an available seat to a local guy who took without thanks and let me stand the whole way again. I must learn to be more strict in these long journeys.
On the way a drunk man jumped on the bus and stood next to me catching my arm and chest with a couple of smelly slimy catfish he was carrying. To my Surprise the bus conductor threw him off the coach!! The drunk was not happy and started getting on again, the conductor blocked his path and took a punch for his efforts.... "Bad move drunk" I thought. Since conductor looked like he took steroids!! Anyway a vicious kick to the face came to the drunk and he still persisted. Other local chaps at the bus stop kicked off at him and he ended up running and swearing at a distance looking very sorry for himself. After the anger had left me, since the bus driver had been very chatty and nice to us both, I felt some guilt and thought maybe it's because he slapped me with his fish. Bit turns out it was because he was very drunk.
Arrived at monkey bay and then caught another truck to Cape Mclear. Arrived at gecko lounge. Stunning location. Best so far! Real swanky back packers location. There was no one there to Vales disappointment but I liked the peace and quiet.
Ate for 300, £1.50 at local place and had "mcdonalds" chips on the way back. Which were just chrispy potato wedges heated in some oil over some burning chibuku boxes.
Slept amazingly well.
